CASCINA ROSSO Organic Farm Holidays Bed, Breakfast & Wellness
|
- We are in the picturesque town of Roccaverano which is situated at 800 meters
above sea level. We are far from traffic, noise and polluted air yet close to
fascinating towns such as Acqui Terme with its thermal spas, fabulous shops and
elegantly restored Center. We are twenty minutes from Acqui Terme.
- We are thirty minutes from the town of Canelli noted for its underground wine
cantinas known as "the underground cathedrals". We are a little more than an
hour from the city of Alba and its truffles and a little less than an hour from Asti
and its sparkling moscato wine.
- This area of Piedmont is the land of prized wines; amongst them you will find:
Barbera Dolcetto
Barolo Nebbiolo
Barbaresco Brachetto
Asti Spumante Moscato d'Asti
Cortese Malvasia
In Spring and Summer, many of the hills and terraces of Cascina Rosso, are covered
with wildflowers of so many different shades of pink, yellow, blue, violet as well as
tiny wild and rare orchids that thrive in the pure air of this part of the world.
Our guests often compare this area to the beauty of Tuscany and its fascinating history
and art. A difference between here and Tuscany is that Roccaverano and the
surrounding towns have not yet been "discovered" by crowds of tourists. As a result,
you have the unique opportunity to experience both the beauty of the nature of
this area as well as its fascinating medieval history in a close-up and personal way.
You can easily reach the sea, Genova and Savona from our Cascina.
If you feel like spending a day in the big city, a convenient bus from
Acqui Terme will take you to Milan.
The city of Turin is easily reached by train or by car.
We came to live here because we dreamed of changing our
way of life
We wanted to live in a place surrounded by the beauty of Nature, where we
could get away from polluted air and water, noise and traffic; we wanted to
work with the land and become more self-sufficient and grow organic
vegetables. Our dream included sharing such an environment, as well as our
skills and the natural healing and relaxation techniques that we have been
practicing for many years.
We discovered Roccaverano where we bought a semi-abandoned group of
houses surrounded by 12 breathtaking hectares of land. We are sharing
Cascina Rosso, our Organic Farm and Agritourism, with guests who also love
clean air and water, peace and quiet and the incredible beauty of a natural
environment.
A world apart
Our location gives our guests many possibilities of visiting nearby sites and
towns that seem mostly untouched by the passage of time. This is an area of
well preserved and protected medieval history and traditions, castles and
ancient watch towers. It is also home to many great Italian culinary
specialties such as truffles, famous Robiola cheese of Roccaverano, great
wines like moscato and brachetto, hazelnuts and specialties of the Langa
area that you will easily find in the local restaurants where the tradition of
the famous cooking of Piedmont is easily discovered.
We are happy to organize special tours and events for our guests such as:
- local organic wine tastings
- Robiola Cheese of Roccaverano tastings
- cooking classes in fantastic local restaurants
(tastings and tours need to be scheduled in advance)

...The pleasure of sipping Moscato wine while watching the
unlimited sunset that paints itself in front of you...
On many of the 12 hectares that surround Cascina Rosso, you will find private
paths when you want to stroll, jog or go trekking through the woods. There are
special places when you want to meditate, contemplate or do sit-ups. There
are open meadows for when you want to lay in the sun or pack a picnic lunch
and old shade trees to relax under when you want to enjoy the pleasure of
reading a good book, or watching the clouds roll by in the clear blue sky, or
doing absolutely nothing.
